The fact that the guy has allowed himself to walk 6/8 marathons tells me has allowed his mind to dictate the situation. I would suggest he go on really difficult training runs and push himself to a specific painfully difficult goal to teach himself how to endure. A little David Goggins might help as well! I often remind myself that my brain is wired to protect my body. You have to train your brain to know it’s capable of more

I just put table sugar and some salt in my hand held water bottle for longer/higher intensity runs. So far it's worked fine. Cleaning the bottles can be tricky if you don't do it right away. Disclaimer: my mileage is quite low right now, so this strategy is probably not going to work as well for marathon training.

You guys should check out the ON Cloudsurfer Trail, which my fave running store friends brought out for me to try. It’s better than the regular Cloudsurfer (which is the one ON shoe I bought and enjoyed last year). Even though it has a lugged outsole it’s really for light trails, road-to-trail and it’s a damn fun shoe with a great upper. Light, too. I didn’t buy it because I’d just bought the Mach6 and Rebel4 but it was a real contender.

On is gaining distance on Hoka with the "I need a running shoe for taking my dog to the whole foods" crowd. I'm seeing the shift in tourists wearing On. I really liked my first run in the cloudrunner 2. It's very comfy with a wide fit for me. $150 is steep when comparing to other stability shoes when you can get a pair of Saucony guide, Vongo, or Kayano for cheaper. At $120 I would for sure think about these.

Because of mixed reviews I have not bought the CloudMonster Hyper until this weekend. A shoe store had them and a treadmil. I thought it would be cool to try them out for myself. Ended up buying them because I liked them so much on the treadmill. Also I did my first 13km run last night. And they are great! I really like the Hypers. I had a pair of Eclipse, but they have never really worked for me. Even if they have several great reviews. For my feet the Eclipse felt big, bulky dead and flat. I could not get a good lock down. I think if I had gone down size or a half size maybe the eclipse would work much better for me. I stiller wonder why I don`t get the same feeling from Eclipse eveyone else love. I had to go down a half size for this CloudMonster Hyper aslo.

Having run one 100-mile road ultramarathon, the concept behind the brand makes sense. You want a geometry that will work consistently at lower speeds. The R1 and S1 aren’t rockered, which is helpful for those of us who enjoy more natural footstrike placement over very long distances to save the feet, legs and especially knees. Exciting to see a company not just lard everything with bottomless foam! Appreciate your review and am ordering.

For normal every day wear and not running which is softer after break in this or the ghost16? The ghost 16 felt like the v3 was softer but the max has more thickness to give plus it felt flatter on the ground where the 16 felt like it had weird lumps on the sides of the sole to me. They didn’t have my size in the max so I could get a good feel on fit at all. The 16 also seems to have a little softer insole and I noticed it had a little squish under the insole if you pull it out.
